UK-Malaysia-Ireland Charity Work

UK-Malaysia-Ireland Charity Work or UMIC (formely known as Charity Work Programme) was introduced as a small scale charity work set up by the students of Queen's in Belfast. UMIC was a medium for the students to involve in charitable activities with the local communty. The first UMIC programme was held on the 21st August 2010 at the Morton Community Centre, Lisburn Road. We had invited two speakers to give motivational talks on how to help children in need and how we can contribute to these charity organisations. We also organised few children events such as drawing and colouring competitions, story telling and face painting to get these childrens exposed to charity work. The programme was a success and we managed to collect 20 boxes full of children books, toys and clothings. Monetary donations collected totalled up to £1,700.00. All collections were shipped to Lembaga Kebajikan Perempuan Islam Malaysia (LKPIM) to be distributed to the children orphanage schools in Malaysia.
